Mechanic to be deported for molesting air hostess

Dubai: A mechanic has been jailed for six months after a court convicted him of molesting an air hostess when he offered to help her move her belongings.

The Dubai Court of First Instance incriminated the 27-year-old Indian mechanic of molesting the 24-year-old British hostess. He will be deported after serving his imprisonment. The Briton, E.L., claimed to prosecutors that the incident happened after she agreed that the defendant give her a helping hand upon his persistence.

"I was offloading my stuff from my car in the underground parking of a building in Jumeirah Lake Towers. I was moving them when the defendant, suddenly, appeared and offered me a hand. Initially I refused and thanked him for his offer, but then agreed because he was persistence. He moved the stuff into the kitchen and then I paid him Dh20. Then he gave me his contact number to help me at anytime. Suddenly, he came from behind and molested me… he also hugged and tried to kiss me. Although I pushed him out of the flat, he returned and apologised. I rejected his apology, scolded him and kicked him out. He also tried to take away my phone and stop me from calling…" E.L. claimed in her prosecution statement. Records said the hostess was scared so she called her friend before they reported the matter to the police. Yesterday's judgment remains subject to appeal within 15 days.
