26-year-old victim claims suspect who she initially met on a social networking site assaulted her in Al Barsha flat
Dubai: A chat that started over a social networking site ended up with a manager facing charges of rape, assault, kidnap and theft.
A 26-year-old Kazakh woman, E.A., claims the 34-year-old Jordanian manager threatened her with a sharp tool and forced her into her Al Barsha flat where she alleged he beat and repeatedly raped her before stealing her belongings and fleeing.
Meanwhile 34-year-old A.A. claimed she offered to have consensual sex with him for $500 (Dh1,835). Then he beat her because she bit his chest and tongue during intercourse.
Prosecutors charged A.A. with pointing a sharp tool at E.A's, back then forcing her into her flat and raping her three times. He was also charged with injuring E.A. and causing her two per cent permanent disability.
The defendant failed to attend yesterday's hearing before the Dubai Court of First Instance. Presiding Judge Hamad Abdul Latif Abdul Jawad will sentence A.A. in absentia on December 26.
According to the arraignment sheet, A.A. kidnapped E.A. and beat her until she lost consciousness. Then he threw her on the bed and raped her. He was also accused of beating her and whipping her with an electric cable. He also stole her belongings. "I met him on one of the social networking sites… his style attracted me. He picked me up and we went for dinner, during which we consumed liquor… Around 3.30am he asked to go to my flat… when I refused, his looks and tone changed completely…"
