Lawyers demand to see Yamadayev crime report

Dubai Lawyers defending two suspects, who have denied conspiring in Chechen leader Sulim Yamadayev's murder, have requested a copy of the crime scene report.

The lawyers representing the suspects asked Presiding Judge Hamad Abdul Latif Abdul Jawad yesterday to authorise them to have a copy of the report prepared by Dubai police's Forensic Laboratory.

The Iranian clerk, M.T., and Tajikistani businessman, M.K., denied the charge of collaborating in the premeditated murder of Yamadayev, who was shot dead in the parking lot of his residence in Jumeirah Beach Residence in March.

The suspects also denied the charge of aiding and abetting in Yamadayev's killing, when they appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance.

The lawyers further asked Abdul Jawad to summon the prosecution's witnesses for cross-examination.

"Not guilty," pleaded M.T., in Persian, and M.K., in Russian.

According to the arraignment sheet, M.T. collaborated with an absconder identified as Adam to monitor the movement of the victim from the Dubai International Airport to his residence.

He was also charged with identifying the victim's address to an unidentified number of suspects (who are still at large), who gunned down the victim.

M.T. was additionally charged with handing the murder weapon over to those who executed the shooting, and carrying an unlicensed gun and bullets.

M.K. was charged with conspiring with the shooters in plotting the murder and helping them leave the country.

The court reconvenes on October 26.
