Fire destroys shops in Sharjah

Sharjah: A fire broke out in a grocery in Rolla, Sharjah, early yesterday. The blaze spread to the adjacent photo studio and a restaurant, but no one was injured, said the police.

Heavy smoke enveloped the building located in one of the busiest areas in Sharjah, said residents.

Large crowds gathered to watch the thick plumes of smoke coming out of the building as tension mounted over the fire spreading.

Civil defence evacuated the upper part of the building. The grocery, restaurant and studio were gutted in the blaze.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
