Dubai security guard accused of touching woman

Dubai: A security guard was accused of touching a British woman’s buttocks three times while she asked him for directions to a school.

Prosecutors accused the 22-year-old Pakistani defendant, Z.A., of sexual molesting the 22-year-old British woman, S.E., and asked for the implementation of the toughest punishment applicable against him.

The woman testified that the incident happened when she went along with her friend to look for directions to a school near Dubai Investment Park (DIP).

“I went to the management of DIP with my friend to ask for directions to the new school. I asked the suspect to give me directions … he said he had a map and asked me to go into the office to show it to me. I walked behind him to the desk. Meanwhile, my friend waited in her car. He took out a map from a drawer and handed me the map. I felt that he touched my buttock … but I didn’t bother much thinking it was by mistake. I couldn’t find the school’s address on the map so he suggested showing me another map. Then he took out a booklet from the drawer and handed it to me… then I felt that he intentionally touched my buttock for a second time. Scared of him because we were alone in the office, I decided to walk out,” S.E. claimed to prosecutors.

Prosecution records said the suspect touched the woman’s buttock for a third time while she was walking out of the desk. The Briton alleged that Z.A. tried to talk her to stay more to show her another map.

The suspect failed to appear before the Dubai Court of First on Monday.

“I hoped into my friend’s car and told her what happened. She suggested that we report the matter to the police. Police took the suspect for questioning at the police station where he confessed that he tapped my back,” claimed the woman.

Presiding Judge Hamad Abdul Latif Abdul Jawad will hand out a verdict in absentia on June 14.
