10-year-old was 'raped in school toilet'

Sharjah: The Ministry of Education will investigate the case of a 10-year-old schoolboy who was reportedly raped in the toilet while at his school, an official told Gulf News yesterday.

Juma Al Salami, Ministry Undersecretary for Private Education, said: "Such incidents cannot be left uninvestigated."

The official confirmed the victim's family had lodged a complaint against an "unidentified suspect." The schoolboy was a student at a private school.

In a separate incident, police are investigating a government teacher who hit a schoolboy, identified as Abdullah, in Khor Fakkan.
