Ask any random sample of motorists to name what they consider a menace on Dubai's roads, and 'truckers' are sure to figure prominently in the response.

Like speeding bullets, they whoosh past the family sedans, and terrified pedestrians as if their cargo included a ticking time bomb - rather than toilet paper, or bags of wheat.

It is important to bear in mind that Dubai is a trading hub, and cargo is meant to be transported to and from the ports, whether the residents of the emirate like it or not.

However, many wonder why the Traffic Department cannot come up with an arrangement wherein truckers and average motorists might co-exist in perfect harmony.
