Barmada steers ACA to win

Awad Barmada played a stellar role in Al Ain Cricket Asociation's (ACA) two-wicket win over hosts and strong contenders New Medical Centre (NMC) in the NMC TRophy cricket tournament here on Friday.

Awad picked up five wickets for 51 runs to but the brakes ion NMC's run feast which ended at 346 for 9.

Facing an asking rate of almost seven an over, Awad once again led the run chase with a good knock of 80. Mohammed Arshad scored 77 and helped Al Ain score one of their most famous wins so far.

The other strong contender from the capital, Union National Bank had a rather easy outing with a 8-wicket win over Abu Dhabi gentklemen, a B division side.

In an all-Dubai clash, Air India were grounded by Emirates Airlines while Lanka Lions crushed minnows ETC Insportz in the fourthb match of the tourney played also on Friday. A big knock of 131 by Suranjith Dharmasena set Lanka Lions on the way to a 202-run win over ETC Insportz.
