Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah, on a six-day extensive visit to the Eastern province, launched new projects worth 35 billion Saudi riyals in Jubail.

He laid the foundation stone for the Jubail Technical Institute and the expansion of the King Fahd Industrial Port in Jubail.

The port caters to the growing needs of the industrial city of Jubail. He also opened a number of water projects in addition to road and bridge projects and the Al Fanatir Recreation Centre in the Al Fanatir area of the industrial city.

Earlier on arrival in the Eastern Province, the Crown Prince was received by a large number of princes and top officials, including Prince Sultan, Makkah Governor Prince Abdul Majeed and Eastern Province Governor Prince Mohammed ibn Fahd.

Prince Abdullah was also scheduled to inaugurate the Hawiyah gas plant.

He will also visit the King Abdul Aziz Military city. He is also scheduled to open a 300-bed King Abdul Aziz Hospital in Al Ahsa and another 100-bed hospital in Dammam.

The Crown Prince also visited the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals yesterday where he spoke to the students and the staff.

He also inaugurated the fifth phase of the university's campus project as well as its new workshop at the Refining and Petrochemical Centre at the Research Institute of the University.

Saudi Arabia is a significant player in the global petrochemical market and the centre plays a very significant part in the growth of petrochemical sector in the kingdom.

The inauguration of an industrial park at the university is the high point of the Crown Prince's visit to the university.
