Dubai: The biggest issue is the apps for the electronic-paper display. Not all the Android apps work on the display.

Vlad Martynov, CEO, Yota Devices, said that there are only 15 Android apps that work on electronic-paper display.

“We have the SDK and developers can easily develop apps for the e-ink display,” he said.

Yota has its own apps store with 12 apps and more on the way.

The device runs on Android 4.2.2 operating system, which is very old and not on the latest Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) version.

“The first-generation device will not get KitKat upgrade but the second-generation will have KitKat version,” he said.
