Eurostar aims to double its tablet sales to 300,000 units this year

Dubai: Following the launch of dual-SIM mobile phones in the market, it is the era of dual-SIM tablet computers.

Dubai-based Eurostar is launching a seven-inch tablet with a calling option - ePad Genie Phablet — and a seven-inch tablet for kids — ePad Kids – at Gitex.

“The 3G phablet runs on dual core 1.6 Ghz Cortex A9 processor and powered by Android Jelly Bean. It combines the functions of a smartphone and tablet to provide users the benefit of both with front and rear cameras,” Shaan Jethwani, Executive Director, Eurostar Group, told Gulf News.

“We sold around 150,000 tablets last year and this year our aim is double it to 300,000 across the Middle East,” he said.

He said tablets are growing at a faster pace and seven–inch devices are the fastest moving among tablets followed by 10 inch tablets.

Eurostar is partnering with Jacky’s, Sharaf DG, Jumbo and Lulu for bundled offers, and is priced at Dh799.

“Use of tablets in education sector is gaining traction and has made the learning experience a lot more engaging and fun for children. The ePad Kids is pre-loaded with popular learning apps and games,” he said.

He said children are the future and it is a great advantage for them to have access to the latest technology to enhance their education and stimulate their creativity.

The ePad is priced at Dh699.
