Dubai: With the expected release this week of Apple's iWatch, tech geeks have stumbled on a predecessor dating back to the 1960s.

While the iWatch would be Apple's first new product since 2010, the Dick Tracy wrist radio was launched in the 1940s.

Tracy's two-way wrist radio could be seen by some as a predecessor to today's smartwatch. This Tracy wrist radio in Maryland is courtesy of the National Law Enforcement Museum.
