Junior tennis tournament enters knock-out stage

Dubai: Dhruv Bahl, Joshua D'Silva, Adham Gabr and Sunil Varrier booked their places in the semi-finals of the boys' under-16 at the Hotel Holiday International Sharjah Open Junior Tennis Championships held in Sharjah last week.

In a thrilling match, Bahl edged out Mujahid Ali Khan 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (8), while Joshua D'Silva won 1-6, 7-6, 1-0 (3) against Amru Jiff.

In the girls' under-16 event, third seed Rikeetha Pereira upset top seed Simran Noronha 6-1, 6-2 while Victoria Holjevac battled for more than two hours before easing past Emelie Schwarted 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (5) to reach the final.
