Dubai: Andy Murray defeated world number one Novak Djokovic 6-2, 7-5 to reach the final of the Dubai Open on Friday and will meet Roger Federer in Saturday's title match.

It was Djokovic's first defeat of the season after picking up his fifth Grand Slam title at the Australian Open where he had beaten Murray in a thrilling five-set semi-final.

Federer beat Juan Martin del Potro 7-6 (7/5), 7-6 (8/6) in his semi-final on Friday with the Swiss great saving four set points in the second set tie-break.
