Dubai: Al Nasr Club made a clean sweep of nearly all titles at the end of the inter-club tennis championships for the 2007-2008 season.
The Al Nasr boys teams won all but one of the six titles on offer, while the girls took two of the three crowns at the end of the season.
Taking a total of seven titles, Al Nasr left Al Wasl with only three: the boys under-18, and the girls under-10, and under-12.
Al Wasl picked up nearly all runners-up, except for the boys under-16 category, which was taken by Fujairah Tennis and Country Club.
The Al Nasr Club squad consisted of Hamad Abbas Al Janahi, Mahmoud Nader, Faisal Bastaki, Rashid Bushaqar, Abdul Rahman Al Janahi, Fahad Al Janahi and Majid Bushaqar.
The team also earned a promotion to Division One of the Falak Holding Men's Tennis League after they won Division Two honours. This was the first time that Al Nasr had fielded a team in the annual competition.
Meanwhile, Al Wasl cemented their place as the best men's team winning Division One ahead of Super Sport Mina Seyahi.
In Division Three, the two teams from India Club took the honours, while Division Four was won by Al Bustan Rotana, with Dubal coming in a close second.
In the end, Al Nasr were adjudged the best club for the season. They also won the 'best boys school in the UAE' category, while Al Wasl took the honours in the girls' section
Felicitations
The winners of the two competitions were felicitated by Abdullah Al Shamsi, treasurer and member of the board of directors of Tennis Emirates.
Al Shamsi was accompanied by Mahmoud Khalifa, chairman of the national teams committee, Slah Bramly, technical director of Tennis Emirates, and Hamdan Sulaiman, a representative of sponsors Falak Holding.
The team also earned a promotion to Division One of the Falak Holding Men's Tennis League after they won Division to honours.
