Bratt looking forward to competing in Asia series as championship opener kick-starts action at Yas Marina
The opening race of the 2009-2010 GP2 Asia Series will be held at the Yas Marina Circuit as a support race to the Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on November 1.
The GP2 cars will also become the first to test the Yas Marina circuit during a two-day test on 23 and 24 October. Bratt, who moved from Spanish Formula 3 last year, won the final 3000 series edging out Marco Bonanomi'.
"Winning the championship is just something incredible. I think I still have to realise that.
"But for now, to me, it's just a dream.
"If I stop to relax a bit and think about it, I think that this title really is well deserved for me and the team," he said after Sunday's win.
"We were unlucky at the start of the season, but from Zolder (early season race) until today we did a great job. Furthermore, our competitor was a good driver like Bonanomi who made our life really difficult. Despite that, we managed to win in our first year in the series," the 21 year old said.
"Now I'm looking forward to driving the GP2 Asia car in Abu Dhabi," Bratt said.
In another related development, iSport confirmed that GP2 race winner Davide Valsecchi will compete for the team in the GP2 Asia season opener here.
"With two seasons in GP2 under his belt, the experienced Italian will be a welcome addition to iSport as the team looks to begin its GP2 Asia campaign strongly at the state-of-the-art facility on Yas Island. Davide Valsecchi is confirmed at iSport for the first Abu Dhabi round only at this point," an iSport statement said.
iSports also said that its new team driver Oliver Turvey will miss the October 23-24 test due to a calendar clash with the final race of the World Series by Renault Championship in which Oliver has been competing.
Oliver will still be joining the team for the first GP2 Asia race next week (November 1) in Abu Dhabi," the statement added.
