DMX Championship gets under way
Dubai: Ben Cracknell, Ahmad Ramadan, Medhy Menad, Sean Gaugain and Joshua Brodalka were among the winners as the 2008/09 DMX Championship got under way with the first round of action in Jebel Ali.
The DMX season stretches over six months and is run under the umbrella of the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE, FIM and the Emirates Motor Sports Federation.
The opening round's action saw riders making the most of their time on the track. They dug deep to concoct magical jumps and put on a superb display to spice up the high-flying, adrenaline-pumping sport.
Cracknell won the LT 50 Quads class, with James Cargill and female rider Sarah Pike in hot pursuit, while the 50cc Cadets class witnessed Jenna Bohling clinching victory ahead of Keagan White and Gregory Berry, who settled for second and third respectively.
The 50cc Juniors event saw Jonathan Harel take maximum points for his win, with Charlie Cracknell and Ethan Pearce, filling up the next two podium spots.
Moving higher, the slightly quicker 65cc class witnessed KTM riders Darren Berry and Dean Jullien taking first and second, while Brodalka clinched victory in the 85cc event, with Dale Jullien and Sheldon Hollaway completing the podium.
KTM's were at the forefront of the action in the 125cc class as well, with Ben Menzies and Brendan Atkinson claiming the top two spots and Nic Hagen finishing third.
Sam Sunderland and Gaugain took victory in the MX2 MX1 classes, respectively, while Ramadan and Menad triumphed in the Pro Quad and Masters events.
