Segura scores winning run in the bottom of the 13th as Mariners defeat Red Sox
Los Angeles: Edwin Encarnacion’s grand slam in the 11th inning capped a wild night as the Cleveland Indians, after blowing an early seven-run lead, rallied to beat the Los Angeles Angels 11-7 on Tuesday.
Bradley Zimmer, whose grand slam highlighted a seven-run Cleveland second inning, led off the bottom of the 11th by drawing a walk from Bud Norris (1-3). Zimmer stole second base, then went to third when Norris walked Francisco Lindor but threw a wild pitch on ball four.
Jean Segura’s infield single scored the winning run in the bottom of the 13th inning as Seattle handed Boston their season-high fourth straight loss, winning 6-5.
With the Mariners trailing 5-4 and one out in the bottom of the 13th, Mitch Haniger drew a walk from Doug Fister (0-5), and Ben Gamel hit into a fielder’s choice. Guillermo Heredia fouled off a couple two-strike pitches before lining a single to right field, with Gamel taking third. Gamel then scored the tying run on a wild pitch, with Heredia advancing from first to third.
