An All-Star Cast For Abu Dhabi Meet

When Paul Casey returns next month to defend his Abu Dhabi Championship crown, he will face arguably the strongest field in the three-year history of the tournament.

Joining Casey on the first tee will be fellow Ryder Cup stars Luke Donald, Henrik Stenson, Ian Poulter, Colin Montgomerie and the reigning Open Champion Padraig Harrington. Add into that mix Australian star Adam Scott and the line-up announced so far is compelling.

Casey said: “The win at Abu Dhabi earlier this year was an important milestone for me and the perfect way to start the year. Next month's event will help me kick-start my 2008 season and I can't think of a better place to do it. The reception I received last year was incredible.''

One of the men Casey pipped last year, Harrington, said: “I'm gearing myself up for Abu Dhabi which will be my first event of the year. As the first event of the year, I am flying my whole team out.

“It was a tough championship earlier this year, especially after starting the final round in the lead. But Paul played great and was a deserving winner.''

The championship takes place from January 17-20.
