Werder Bremen cancel friendly with Lazio for fear of far-right groups

Berlin: Werder Bremen has announced the cancellation of a friendly that was scheduled at their stadium on August 6 against Lazio, in light of the possibility that far-right groups will use the event to cause trouble.

The Bundesliga club announced the cancellation on Friday, explaining that they had information “from different relevant sources” about alleged plans of the radical right groups to use this game as a stage for abuse, reports Efe.

The decision was taken in agreement with the Italian club, said the statement, which also said tickets will be refunded.
