Guangzhou: The UAE won two more medals on Thursday, improving its tally to five with another two days left in the 16th Asian Games.
The UAE's Omar Juma Al Sulfa won a historic track and field bronze medal in the men's 200-metres.
Later in the evening, the UAE won the silver in the football event after they lost 1-0 to first-time winners Japan after putting up a valiant fight.
Shaikh Juma Bin Dalmouk Al Maktoum opened the UAE's medal chase with a silver in the men's double trap last Monday.
This was followed by two silvers in the equestrian jumping team and individual events through Shaikha Latifa Al Maktoum earlier this week.
UAE athletes are still competing in track and field events, and hopefully should be in a good position to add more medals in the next two days.
