Rome: Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero faces disciplinary action after the Italian football federation (FIGC) confirmed on Monday they are probing an alleged racist comment he made about Inter Milan’s Indonesian owner.

Ferrero last month told former Inter president Massimo Moratti to “kick out that Filipino” in reference to Indonesian businessman and current Inter president Erick Thohir.

Ferrero later apologised for the remark, but the 63-year-old will appear before a FIGC court for “offensive and discriminatory public statements on ethnic grounds against the Inter president Erick Thohir”.

Ferrero, who made his fortune in the cinema, took over Sampdoria last summer, while Thohir purchased Inter Milan a year ago.
