Dubai: The chairman of the higher organising committee for the 10th Fina World Swimming Championships (25m) is pleased with the progress being made in an attempt to portray the true image of the country later this year.

"Everything connected with the staging of the 10th Fina World Championships is on schedule, and we are confident of giving to the world yet another top-level competition," Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee for the competition remarked after a meeting with officials earlier this week.

The series of meetings were held earlier this week to ascertain the progress made in the various preparations for the hosting of the competition in Dubai from December 15 to 19.

Al Tayer appreciated the efforts put in by the committees concerned for constructing the modern swimming complex adjacent to the Dubailand off Al Khail Road.

The members of the Higher Organising Committee also discussed details of the budget for the competition and approved the contracts signed with companies dealing with the various working committees.

"The new swimming complex will give the right boost for swimming and swimmers in the region," Al Tayer said.

He was also pleased with the work being done by the various committees and sub-committees in attempting to stage the best championships this year. "The aim is to always ensure that we have the best while organising such a prestigious event in the UAE. We have set a certain standard for such events and I am confident we will do better when the swimmers and spectators arrive here," the official stated.

Al Tayer emphasised that the work at the venue will be completed as per the highest specifications.
