Kohli scored 419 out of 600, with modest marks in Mathematics and Science
As the CBSE declared the 2025 Class 10 and 12 results earlier this week, an old photo of Virat Kohli’s Class 10 marksheet began circulating widely on social media. The renewed attention follows Kohli’s recent retirement from Test cricket, making the moment especially poignant for fans and students alike.
The marksheet was originally shared in 2023 by IAS officer Jitin Yadav, who reposted it on X with an encouraging caption. Highlighting that academic scores don’t define success, he wrote: “Had marks been the sole factor, the entire nation wouldn't be rallying behind him now. Passion and dedication are the key.”
Kohli appeared for his Class 10 board exams in 2004 and secured a total of 419 out of 600 marks, translating to a percentage of 69.83%. His subject-wise performance was as follows:
English: 83 (Grade A1)
Social Science: 81 (Grade A2)
Hindi: 75 (Grade B1)
Introductory IT: 74 (Grade C2)
Science and Technology: 55 (Grade C1)
Mathematics: 51 (Grade C2)
Kohli’s story sends a strong message to students facing exam pressure: scores matter, but they aren’t everything. Passion, persistence, and self-belief often shape one’s destiny far more than a grade ever could.
Netizens applaud his journey
The post quickly went viral, with social media users applauding Kohli’s rise from an average academic profile to becoming a cricketing icon.
“Marks are just numbers. It’s perseverance and dedication that count,” wrote one user.
Another added, “Kohli has a valid marksheet + dedication = success. Became the pride of our nation.”
The marksheet's renewed circulation comes just days after Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket. In a heartfelt Instagram post, the former Indian captain reflected on his 14-year journey in the format:
“It's been 14 years since I first wore the baggy blue in Test cricket… It’s tested me, shaped me, and taught me lessons I'll carry for life. As I step away, it's not easy—but it feels right.”
While he stepped away from T20 internationals in 2024 and has now exited Test cricket, Kohli confirmed that he will continue to represent India in One-Day Internationals (ODIs).
