UAE national team players shine in KPL

Dubai: UAE cricketers Saqib Ali and Fayyaz Ahmad stole the show with match-winning performances for their teams Dunes Kannur Veerans and CSS Allepey Ripples respectively while Ahmad Raza's five-wicket haul for Xpress Money Farooq C.C. Calicut Zamorins went in vain in the three matches played over the weekend in the Capital Kerala Premier League.

The tournament is sponsored by Capital group, organised by KPL Dubai and conducted by the Dubai Cricket Council. Arfan Haider and Arshad Ali gave Kannur Veerans a good start with a 46 runs stand for the first wicket as Arfan made 28 runs with four boundaries and a six while Arshad played well for his 19 runs in which he hit four boundaries.

Krishna Chandra was then consumed by Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi for 12. UAE all-rounder Saqib Ali then took centre stage playing a match-winning knock for Kannur mixing caution with aggression to top score with 52 unbeaten runs.
