Dubai: Off spinner Owais Hameed produced a six-wicket spell but his effort could not help UAE reach the final of the Asian Cricket Council Elite Under-19 tournament in Malaysia.
According to information from Malaysia, UAE lost to Afghanistan by 40 runs. Owais produced a spell of six for 58.
For UAE, opener Arjun Lamba also hit a fighting knock of 73 but could not help his team overcome Afghanistan's total of 255 in 49.3 overs.
Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat. Opener Sajeed Khan went on to hit 82 before being bowled for Owais.
Two-drop Obaidullah Kunari cracked 76.
UAE lost an early wicket in Aashish Dingra for two but Lamba and Mehtab Ali put on 99 runs for the second wicket,
After Ali fell for 36, wickets began to fall regularly.
