India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav is currently in London undergoing treatment for a right-side sports hernia and is expected to be out of action for several weeks.

According to a report by News24 Sports, the 34-year-old will begin the medical procedure next week and aims to return to the field by August.

The timing of the surgery is strategic. With no T20 internationals scheduled until India’s tour of Bangladesh in August, Yadav is using the break in the white-ball calendar to focus on recovery and long-term fitness.

Although the BCCI has not released an official statement, sources suggest the recovery could take up to two months.

The explosive Mumbai batter was in blistering form during IPL 2025 and remains a key figure in India’s T20 plans.

India’s upcoming T20 schedule includes home series against South Africa and the West Indies, followed by a tour of Australia — all crucial steps toward building momentum for the 2026 T20 World Cup. Yadav’s decision to undergo surgery now positions him to return at full strength for that important stretch.
