Cricketers to play near terror lair

Karachi: Afghanistan will play a one-day cricket match against Pakistan A in Abbottabad, a few kilometres from the hideout where Al Qaida chief Osama Bin Laden was killed.

Afghanistan, who play a three-match series against Pakistan A on May 25-29, will be the first side to tour the country in more than two years. The other two games will be at Faisalabad and Rawalpindi, said the Pakistan Cricket Board.

International cricket has been suspended in Pakistan since militants attacked the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore in March 2009.

The attacks, which killed eight people and wounded seven Sri Lankan players and their assistant coach, prompted the ICC to strip Pakistan of its 2011 World Cup matches.
