The Charter of the United Nations (UN) marks its 70th anniversary. On June 26, 1945, the charter, the UN’s founding document, was signed in San Francisco, US. Seventy years later, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon returned to San Francisco to celebrate the UN’s founding and call on the international community to renew their commitment towards the shaping of a better future for all. “The United Nations is the hope and home of all humankind. The Charter is our compass,” he said. Social media users congratulate the organisation for completing seven decades and hope for a positive change in the near future.
