ELECTRIC TWO-WHEELERS ARE NOT ABOVE THE TRAFFIC LAW. There’s a growing variety of electric scooters and bikes in the market and as these micro-mobility means become more popular, it’s essential to follow road rules designed specifically for them. Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre has clarified that e-bikes with engines operating at 700 watts need a permit to ride. Also, a bicycle or scooter isn’t allowed on roads where the maximum speed limit exceeds 60km/h. Moreover, these transport means are not meant to carry a pillion rider. Riders should follow these traffic regulations for their own safety as well as that of other road users. [Comment By Faisal Masudi, Assistant Editor]
