New Abu Dhabi-Dubai route will enhance comprehensive federal road infrastructure
The Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi earlier this week invited tenders for the completion of a new highway between the capital and Dubai.
The Dh2 billion project is slated for completion by 2014 and will provide 62 kilometres of new road linking the cities. The route will provide a new link and will complete the Highway 311 parallel road to complement the E11.
When completed, the new road will tie together all of the emirates in a comprehensive federal road infrastructure and will be a boon for commuters who travel regularly around the nation.
The new route will link new industrial zones under development and will alleviate some of the traffic chaos witnessed frequently on the E11 during peak hours, during foggy weather, or when accidents happen.
The new route, along with a national rail network under development, will serve the UAE well in the coming decades.
