The introduction of Arabic-language domain names will increase the use of the internet in the Middle East, something that will boost social and economic development in the region.

The internet has emerged as a backbone of the global economy, facilitating the exchange of information as well as commerce.

But English remains the main language of the internet, making it harder for some to use it. Under a new system being introduced by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, web addresses will be available in the Arabic alphabet, removing a language barrier and making the internet more accessible to Arabic speakers. The new system will also allow Arab companies to register domain names in their own language, allowing them to strengthen their online presence and build their brands.

The increased use of Arabic on the internet will strengthen the presence of the Middle East in the global digital community.
