Dubai: For UAE motorists who have travelled to neighbouring GCC countries, such as Oman, Kuwait, or Saudi Arabia and committed a traffic violation while driving their own vehicle, it is possible to settle these fines online from within the UAE. This can be done conveniently through either the Dubai Police app or the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) app.

Paying GCC traffic fines via the Dubai Police app or website

To begin the process:

  1. Open the Dubai Police app or visit the official website: www.dubaipolice.gov.ae.

  2. Navigate to the menu and select Services.

  3. Under the Traffic category, choose Fines Inquiry and Payment.

  4. In the ticket details section, use the dropdown menu under Fine Source to select the GCC country where the traffic violation occurred (for example, Oman or Kuwait).

  5. Enter the fine number found on the traffic ticket, along with the year the fine was issued.

  6. Complete the captcha verification and click Search.

  7. If the fine appears in the system, you will be able to review it and settle the payment online using a credit or debit card.

Paying GCC fines via the RTA Dubai app

Alternatively, if you are using the RTA Dubai app, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Services section.

  2. Select Pay Fines for Others.

  3. Enter the fine number and then choose the fine source, fine year, and fine number as prompted.

  4. Click Search to retrieve the fine.

  5. Once the details are displayed, you can proceed to pay the fine online.

The process on both platforms is quite similar, allowing drivers to settle cross-border fines without needing to visit the issuing country.

If the traffic violation was committed while driving a rental vehicle in another GCC country, the rental company typically receives the fine directly and may charge the amount to your credit card on file. In such cases, you may not need to settle the fine yourself manually.

GCC initiative to unify traffic fine systems

During a 2023 joint meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), discussions were held about linking and activating the exchange of traffic violation information among GCC traffic authorities. This initiative aims to unify procedures and streamline the exchange of traffic fines between countries. It also supports broader goals of reducing road accidents and ensuring better compliance with traffic rules across the region.

The GCC includes the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, and Qatar.
