Dubai: Dubai’s public parking operator, Parkin PJSC, has announced the introduction of a variable parking tariff near event venues, effective from Monday, February 17. The new rate will be set at Dh25 per hour during event hours, with Parkin recommending the use of public transport for those heading to event zones. The announcement was made via the company’s official social media channels on Wednesday, February 12.

Parkin has identified the area surrounding the Dubai World Trade Centre as a designated ‘Grand Event Zone,’ where the new event-hour tariff of Dh25 per hour will apply exclusively during scheduled events.

Earlier this month on February 1, Parkin increased parking fees in Zone F - which covers The Knowledge Village, Dubai Media City and Dubai Internet City while extending parking hours from 8am to 10pm.

Event-hour parking strategy

In November 2024, Parkin first announced its plan to implement variable parking tariffs for major events with high traffic volumes. This initiative aims to manage temporary surges in demand during conferences, exhibitions, festivals, concerts, and other large gatherings.

During these events, special parking zones with adjusted rates will be activated in the surrounding areas. These zones will be clearly marked, with tariff details accessible via the Parkin website, mobile app, and social media channels.

Introduction of ‘premium parking’

As part of the same November 2024 announcement, Parkin confirmed the rollout of premium parking spaces by the end of March 2025. These designated spaces will offer drivers convenient access to high-demand locations, including public transport hubs, central business districts, and major shopping destinations. Premium parking zones will feature dedicated signage, with tariff details displayed both on-site and through Parkin’s digital platforms.

Variable parking tariff policy from March

From the end of March, Parkin will introduce a new variable parking tariff system based on peak and off-peak hours:

Peak hours (8am - 10am and 4pm - 8pm)

  • Dh6 per hour for Premium Parking spaces

  • Dh4 per hour for all other paid public parking spaces

Off-peak hours (10am - 4pm and 8pm - 10pm)

  • Tariffs remain unchanged

Free parking

  • Overnight from 10pm to 8am

  • All day Sunday
