We haven't had many women in My Wheels, so welcome. Were you always into cars?

You could say that. I actually owned a soft-top MGF before I came out to Dubai, and have always been a bit of a petrolhead.

So where was that?

That was back in the UK. I'm a Yorkshire lass with a bit of a Geordie streak in me, but made the move to Dubai just over three years ago. I'd been coming across here for a few years to visit my sister, and really enjoyed the brunches and the nightlife, so when the opportunity arose to move out here with my husband, we grabbed it. You know, it was a now or never scenario and we chose now.

I'm working as a PA for an international investment firm, which keeps me going in this material world.

And the wheels?

Ah yes, my real life PS3 game, my Cammy. It's a 6.2-litre V8 Chevrolet Camaro SS in silver, with upgraded 20in black alloys and black stripes to make it even more unique. Many people think it's a weird choice for a woman but that's what I like about it. I am a bit of a petrolhead and hey, we like fast, sporty cars too. I'm not a girl racer but I know my car is quick! In my opinion, this is one awesome set of wheels.

What inspired you to buy a Camaro?

When I arrived here, I had the usual Toyota rental, which cost me a fortune but didn't have any style or image whatsoever. So once I had got some money together, I began to shop around. I looked at so many different cars including a BMW Z4, Mercedes SLK, Boxster and a Mustang but nothing really clicked. And then one day I saw the Camaro in the Transformers movie. It was certainly not the car I thought I would ever buy, but it just looked so beautiful.

After speaking to the dealers, I was told that they were all sold out and I would not be able to get one for five months. I was really disappointed. However, a sales executive at Liberty Automobiles in Sharjah managed to find me a top of the range SS and called me.

I didn't particularly want the top end model, however, when I saw the specification and went to take a look at it, I fell in love. I think there are only about 100 or so in the UAE and I am pretty sure I am the only woman driving one.

Happy with it?

Absolutely! He's my Cammy. Actually, that nickname doesn't really do him justice, so maybe I'll have to give that some more thought. But, yes, all in all this is an exciting and thrilling car to drive and definitely a real head turner. My mum back in the UK hasn't stopped worrying since I bought it, and I can't wait for her to visit so that I can sit her in the passenger seat for the first time. I would never have dreamed about owning a car like this in the UK, so it definitely marks a turning point and a big sense of achievement for me.
