Daughtry
Chris daughtry

With the powerhouse performances that he gave on American Idol, everyone was surprised when he didn't win. However, as in the case of Jennifer Hudson, it's often the runners-up who end up becoming the stars. Daughtry, from the looks of it, might just be music's next big rock star. Naturally, with all the buzz surrounding him, expectations for his debut album are sky high.

While many are already comparing Daughtry to Nickleback, it seems rather unfair. While the genre of music is the same, the Idol winner has a style all his own.

Our favourite is the heavy rock track What I Want featuring none other than the legendary Slash on guitar.

The other standout tracks include the heart-wrenching Home, the angry Over You and the emotional It's Not Over.

Although the majority of the tracks are about heartbreak and love lost, this isn't an album to put on when you're still in love with your ex. It's raw and angry. It's about moving on and picking up the pieces. It's an album that's hard to forget or put aside, once you've heard it.

Dylanesque
Bryan Ferry

Bryan Ferry's never made a secret of his admiration for Bob Dylan. Here the celebrated Roxy Music singer covers 11 Dylan classics, all recording during one week in the studio. However, what we love is that instead of just duplicating the tracks, Ferry makes them his own. The rock of Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues is done as a pop track, while the mellow Simple Twist of Fate now sounds upbeat. A brilliant twist of standard classics that all Dylan fans would love.

Pocket symphony
Air

The first thing I noticed on Pocket Symphony is its strong Japanese influence, most notably on the tracks Once Upon A Time and Mer Du Japo. The other tracks on this album by the notorious Parisian duo who go by the name of Air are mood numbers: slow, melodic, new-age at times. The sound of the album is best described when you listen to the track Somewhere Between Waking And Sleeping. That's exactly what the music on this album sounds like.

Go – The very best of moby remixed
Moby

The follow-up to the hit album Go! features Moby's hits remixed by some of music's best. Remixed features Ferry Corston's mix of Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?, Benni Benassi's version of Beautiful, Bob Sinclair doing the remix of We Are All Made Of Stars, the Katcha remix of Natural Blues and Murk's unique touch to our favourite Moby track, Porcelain.
