Love ho jaye
Tulsi Kumar
Tulsi Kumar, daughter of the great Gulshan Kumar, ventured into the Bollywood music scene two years ago and was known mainly as Himesh Reshammiya's singing partner. Now she has come out with her first non-film album and made a good impression. She has a youthful, sweet and versatile voice. The album has a nice mix of modern romantic ballads, sentimental numbers and dance tracks. Radhe Shyam, Jis Dil Ko Ishq Ho Jaaye, Rabba Maula and Woh Raaten are good to hear.
Inteha
Jagjit Singh
For more than three decades Jagjit Singh has remained at the forefront of the Indian ghazal scene. His new offering Inteha tells us why. Soul-searching lyrics, melodious tunes, modern orchestration and Singh's soothing rich bass voice all combine here to produce some memorable geet and ghazals reflecting on love and life. Inteha Aaj Ishq Ki, Khoob Nibhegi Hum Dono Mein, Kuchh Khona Kuchh Paana, Door Talak Veerana Hai and Din Dooba are the top numbers.
Morning walk
Jeet Ganguli
Music director Jeet Ganguli has done little of note since he separated from his partner Pritam, but in Morning Walk he comes into his own. The soundtrack is one of the best of the year although looking at this film's offbeat low-budget stature, it is doubtful whether this will make an impact. The album begins with Bhor Bhayo, a song celebrating a beautiful dawn. Fusing Indian classical with Western choral and orchestral arrangements, Ganguli makes it a song to remember and Ustad Rashid Khan and Shreya Ghoshal sing it superbly. Manwaa (Rashid Khan, Dibbendu Mukherjee), a song about the vagaries of the mind, beautifully fuses Indian classical style with Latino sounds. This is a well-rounded album with something for everyone!
