Ayesha Depala will show her creations alongside the biggest names in Indian fashion. Here's a sneak preview of the collection that will be available in her Dubai boutique later.

She is the first Dubai-based Indian designer to create an exclusive collection for Saks

Fifth Avenue Dubai.

And now Ayesha Depala is set to be the first designer from this city to showcase her creations at the India Fashion Week.

The young designer is among the select few new designers whose work will be seen on the ramp alongside top Indian designers at the prestigious event, to be held in New Delhi from April 5.

"I am excited that the selection committee liked my work and have invited me. I am also happy to be the first designer from the UAE to participate in this event," says Ayesha.

"This is my first major show and it is a great opportunity to display my designs to buyers from around the world," she adds.

The boutique

The young designer, who recently had her first baby, has her hands full.

Besides putting the finishing touches to her collection for India Fashion Week, she is also preparing to open her signature boutique at The Village mall in Jumeirah.

The boutique will house her ready to wear and couture collections and also offer an haute couture bridal service.

Ayesha will launch her spring/summer 2006 collection at the opening of the boutique next month.

"I am glad to be so busy because that gives me no time to be nervous about India Fashion Week," says Ayesha.

The collection

In Delhi, she will present her autumn/winter 2006 collection.

The line is inspired from an ethereal winter landscape and features elegant evening gowns and dresses as well as semi-formal skirts, trousers and tops with embroidered accents.

The palette is dominated by pale pink, peach, taupe, grey and black and the silk, chiffon, tulle and lace garments are decorated with stones and crystals.

The re-creation of Victorian and Edwardian lace on tulle, embellished with intricate embroidery, is a striking feature.

The collection will be available in Dubai in late August.
