To be honest with you, when I heard that Jamie Foxx had decided to release his own album, I was very worried. It's true that he featured on Kanye West's hit track Golddigger and on Twista's track Slow Jams.
Does he have it? Find out...
To be honest with you, when I heard that Jamie Foxx had decided to release his own album, I was very worried. It's true that he featured on Kanye West's hit track Golddigger and on Twista's track Slow Jams.
It's also true that he did the singing in the outstanding movie Ray where Foxx portrays the life of the legendary Ray Charles. Nevertheless, you just can't help but ask the question: Can he make it as a singer?
Remember Shaq when he decided to get into singing? That is what I'm talking about! I'm talking about moving into a different game!
But with Jamie and his new album Unpredictable, you can rest assured that things will be OK! Unpredictable is also the name of the first track on the album.
You will be impressed by the collaboration between Jamie Foxx and Ludacris on this mid-tempo tune. If you are an R'n'B fan, you will also enjoy his other tracks such as With You, Can I Take You Home and Extravaganza.
The last track on the album Wish You Were Here is dedicated to Jamie's grandmother, and he intended to keep it as the last track 'coz he really wants us to listen to the deep meanings behind the song. Also featured in the album are artists such as Kanye West, Snoop and The Game.
Jamie Foxx is really gifted and this latest album comes highly recommended!
A little bit more personal with Jamie:
- He was born in Texas on December 13, 1967.
- He's debut album is called Peep This and was released in 1994; however, it was not very successful.
- Jamie performed live with Alicia Keys and Quincy Jones a track called Georgia On My Mind in the Grammy Awards 2005, as a tribute to the late Ray Charles.
- His lifetime dream was not for him to be an actor or a comedian but to become a singer, a dream he had to postpone for awhile.
And the Rami goes to...
Lady Nancy, as I like to call her, has done it again! Her new album Ya Tabtab Wa Dalla'h has instantly topped many of the Arabic music charts.
The album starts with the album title track Ya Tab Wa Dalla'h which is a very dancy and catchy tune. A definite hit if I may add. Also, Nancy decided to go in a new direction, Khaleeji style!
Her track Moshtagalak is absolutely amazing. Ihsas Jadeed, another track on the new album, is a softer, more romantic side of her. If you listen to Nancy using your heart, you can't resist falling in love with her!
A little bit more personal on Nancy:
- Born in Ashrafiyeh, Lebanon.
- Won a Gold Medal in the Tarab category at the early age of 12 in a TV programme called Nojoum Al Mostakbal.
- Studied vocal and music theory in Lebanon.
- Accepted by the syndicate of professional artists in Lebanon although she was less than 18 years old.
- Her debut album Mouhtagalak was released in 1998; however, her hit album Ah wa Noss, which was released in 2005 was responsible for all her fame.
See you all next week!
We ask: Is Nancy Ajram overrated?
"She is. I think she's fake."
- Charles Madtha, marketing, University of Wollongong, Dubai (UOWD)
"I haven't heard her songs, but people like her."
- Ankush Prasher, commerce, UOWD
"I have not heard of her."
