I would like to bring to the attention of the authorities the need for a pedestrian crossing near Dubai Customs headquarters on Al Mina Road.
I regularly witness a dangerous scene while I drive to my workplace through Al Mina Road.
Due to the morning rush hour, everyone is in a hurry to reach their destination and motorists drive at very high speed on this particular stretch of road. Simultaneously, people try to cross the road from wherever they want, as there is no pedestrian crossing for at least a kilometre.
It is common to see hundreds of people trying to cross this dangerous street by running in front of the vehicles. The motorists drive so fast; if anyone miscalculates the time needed to cross, the only scenario is a head-on collision, which may cause the person to die or sustain major injuries.
Attention by the authorities is needed in this regard and I request the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to construct a pedestrian bridge so that people are able to easily access either side of the road.
