A rare wristwatch with a winding mechanism similar to Formula One cars will go under the hammer at Christie's auction in Dubai later this week.

The Parmigiani is not only inspired by the Bugatti-Veron but assembled like a cylinder, resembling the engine of the world's fastest car. Only 100 of these watches have been made and only 10 with a blue dial. The unusual timepiece is estimated to fetch between Dh294,500 and Dh444,500, but if you think that's a lot, consider the bidding for the timepiece by Lange & Söhne. The platinum, manually wound tourbillon wristwatch could go for a staggering Dh660,000.

One of the most expensive items up for auction, however, is a pair of three-stone diamond earrings estimated at around Dh1,835,000.

When: April 28-29
What: Jewels and Watches at 7pm on April 28, International Modern and Contemporary Art at 7pm on April 29
