Dubai: The UAE has proved lucky again for a Malayalam actress who debuted in a hit movie shot in Dubai last year.
Aima Rosmy Sebastian, a 23-year-old student of Manipal University in Dubai, won half kg gold in a raffle conducted by a jewellery group in connection with the Indian festival Akshaya Tritiya last Friday.
Aima, a dancer who shot to fame after debuting in Jacobinte Swargarajyam as the sister of popular actor Nivin Pauly, said she considers the country as her lucky charm.
“My parents have been living in Sharjah for over 20 years. I was born here and did most of my education here. I received a chance to act in Jacobinte Swargarajyam because I live here. Now, I have won this raffle also because I live here. The UAE has again proved lucky for me,” Aima told Gulf News.
Her name was picked up by officials from the Dubai Economy Department during the raffle conducted by Malabar Gold and Diamonds on Thursday, a spokesperson from the group said. The group is giving away 30kg of gold in connection with the promotion launched for Akshaya Tritiya, considered as an auspicious day to buy gold and begin new ventures.
Aima, who has acted in three movies so far, said her parents bought diamond rings, gold ear rings, anklets and chains for her and her two sisters on the day.
“We bought all that from their Sharjah branch. All of our names were written in the raffle coupons. Somehow I became lucky and I am so happy about it. Hope this will help during my marriage in future,” said the actress who is currently doing MBA.
