Dubai: The Car Free Day observed by Dubai Municipality on February 5 resulted in the reduction of about 174 tonnes of carbon emission, a senior official said at a recent ceremony held to honour the supporters of the day.
“For the disposal of this carbon emission, we may otherwise need to plant 1,218 trees,” said Mohammad Mubarak Al Mutaiwe’e, assistant director-general for Communications and Community Sector. He said over 2,400 entities took part in the initiative by keeping about 60,000 vehicles out of the roads on that day.
