Dubai: A special needs artist has created ripples in local art circles after his self portrait fetched Dh12,000.

Victor Sitali, 22, who has a hearing and speech impediment, made a foray into arts only two years ago. “The response to his work is amazing. Companies have already started commissioning him work. Many tourists buy his paintings. He is an inspiration not only for special needs people, but mainstream artists as well,” said Gulshan Kavarana, Sitali’s teacher at Mawaheb From Beautiful People, Dubai where he has been learning art.

A nine-day solo exhibition showcasing Sitali’s work will be held at Al Badia Golf Club starting today.
