Bollywood start in Dubai for the promotion of her latest film London Dreams
Do you relate to Priya, the character you play in the film?
I'm not as traditional as Priya is at home. She has this rock chick streak that manifests itself when she steps out, but I'm not as wild as her. I guess she's an exaggerated version of my character.
How was it working with Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan?
Fab, I must say. They are really fun people and friendly too. Even though they are big stars, they don't have inflated egos. They're not affected by their stardom.
Did they play pranks on you?
They tried to! Ajay sent this huge guy who looked like a gangster into my caravan to scream at me and intimidate me. Obviously he expected me to cry, break down or shout for help. But I just waited for him to finish and said: ‘Thank you for the entertainment. Can you please leave me so I can get on with my work?' Ajay and everyone who was in on the prank were really disappointed.
Is there any truth to the rumours that you and Salman had a feud?
Oh, we were supposed to have a relationship first and then we had a feud and there's a whole filmi story built around that, which is quite funny. The rumours started with him gifting me something for Eid, then it turned into a puppy and then people said it was a flat in Mumbai. It was ridiculous. I remember the moment I walked on to the set, Salman said: ‘So, how do you like the flat? Apparently I've given you a five-bedroom flat which even I don't have!' I did buy a flat later, but it was with my own hard-earned money.
How do you deal with rumours?
I can't say I've grown used to it or I don't get annoyed by it. It really gets to you, but you try and not focus your energies on that. My life is really not as dramatic as people make it out to be! It's quite bland and I'm quite happy the way it is. I derive pleasure in my work.
