Coping with the Covid-19 crisis: Sonakshi Sinha

On her Instagram bio, she is asli sona (real gold) and in her Twitter profile, Sonakshi Sinha refers to herself as Junior Shotgun. Daughter of film star-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha, popularly called Shotgun, Sonakshi is as bold and straightforward in her approach to life as her father is. In her decade-long film journey, Sonakshi has worked in 25 films. The actress talks to Nilima Pathak about how she is dealing with the change.Since when have you not stepped out of the house?.I have been at home since March 16, which is when we were sent back from our shoot..In what way has your daily routine changed during the lockdown?.On the days I am not shooting, my routine is pretty much similar to what it now is. I sleep late and wake up late. I am a homebody and like lazing around and spending time with the family. I am actually quite relaxed these days. The only difference is that I have not stayed at home from work for such a long stretch. But then, one does not have a choice..What are the biggest challenges you are facing during this time?.The temptation to step out is a challenge, but given the circumstances, it is not such a major issue. Other than that, I cannot really complain because we are so much better off than most people. As we see, life has not been kind to everyone. And I do feel sad for people who are facing difficult times these days. Since we have a roof over our heads, food on our plates and are surrounded by family, we should feel very grateful..What do you miss the most these days?.My friends and my work! Mid way, I had to leave the web series I was shooting for. It’s a thriller series for Amazon, directed by Reema Kagti. And I am keenly looking forward to going back on the sets.. Sonakshi has been working on other artistic pursuits - sketching and painting - while in lockdown Image Credit: Supplied .What are you enjoying doing the most?.Sketching, painting and spending time with the family..Is there anything new you have started doing and wish to continue even after the lockdown period is over?.It is not new to me, but I have been sketching a lot more these days. While due to work schedules it took a back seat, I intend to continue with my hobby even later. Also, there are certain lifestyle changes that I pledge to continue even after the lockdown is over. These include switching off all lights and limit the use of air conditioner, save as much water – whether it is while taking bath or brushing teeth, and stop using plastic. In fact, after seeing the images of how the natural world is thriving – with drops in pollution levels, cleaner rivers and beaches and a resurgence of wildlife, we all need to learn this lesson on respecting and saving planet Earth..How are you managing your exercise regimen now?.I am trying to work out only as much as I can. I search for new exercise routines over the internet to keep the daily schedule interesting. But rest assured, I am not killing myself over it!. If yes, what are those?.My mother has been telling me to learn how to cook for as long as I can remember! With the lockdown, this is something I get to hear a lot more!! But I just cannot get myself to step into the kitchen..What will be your priorities once this scare of Covid-19 is over?.Getting back to shoot will be a priority, because I am extremely excited about this web series..What will be your favourite memory from this experience?.Just that time stood still for a while and we all were a part of it together. Until now, we were taking things for granted but have now learned to value what life has bestowed upon us..How other celebrities and public figures are keeping busy while in isolation.
