Dubai: The much-anticipated Taste of Dubai festival came alive, igniting the senses and hearts of food lovers from all walks of life. Taking place at the vibrant Dubai Media City Amphitheatre, this three-day culinary extravaganza runs from February 14 to February 16, offering a tapestry of flavours that aims to leave a lasting impression on every visitor.

As the gates swung open, a wave of excitement washed over the venue, accompanied by a chorus of delightful aromas that danced through the air. Families and food enthusiasts gathered in droves, eager to explore a world of culinary wonders. The festival, expected to attract over 25,000 attendees, buzzed with excitement. This year, a special collaboration with Black and Decker brought talented chefs and renowned restaurants together, each eager to unveil their culinary masterpieces.

From the moment they stepped inside, attendees were treated to a feast for the senses. Taster portions from 16 of Dubai’s most celebrated restaurants beckoned, featuring everything from delicate Japanese sushi to rich and aromatic Indian curries. Each bite was an invitation to experience distant lands and cultures, leaving festivalgoers enchanted by the sheer diversity on offer.

Yet, the Taste of Dubai was more than just a celebration of food. It was a family affair, crafted to create lasting memories for visitors of all ages. Children burst with joy as they dove into activities like bouncy castles and face painting, their laughter blending harmoniously with the sizzling sounds of cooking demonstrations. The Noor and Kibsons Chefs Hub thrummed with energy as eager attendees lined up to learn from professional chefs, discovering the secrets behind their favourite dishes and how to perfect cooking. Suma Gourmet and Noon Food hosted an enticing firepit event led by the talented Chef Hateem Mattar. With a warm and inviting atmosphere, Chef Mattar engaged attendees with his expert tips and techniques for mastering the art of grilling. His passion for culinary excellence shone through as he demonstrated how to achieve the perfect sear and infuse delightful flavours into their dishes.

Amidst the vibrant throngs of festive revellers, a family from the Republic of Ireland, Jer Hayes and his wife, are delighting in a sumptuous array of exquisite dishes that celebrate the rich tapestry of flavours. They bask in the warm embrace of their holiday in Dubai, where the air is filled with the enticing aromas of culinary creations. With a sparkle in his eyes, Hayes joyfully recounts the cherished memories stirred by the festival's bountiful offerings. The couple shares their sentiments openly, relishing the vibrant atmosphere that envelops them, and they express how enchanting it is to visit Dubai, especially during the mild winter months. "I’m truly enjoying this wonderful experience with my wife," Hayes beams, the joy evident in his voice.

In a cosy corner, an Italian couple savoured fresh pasta, revelling in the festival’s spirit. “You know, it’s not just the food; it’s the atmosphere. This feels like home,” Luca Marios reflected, encapsulating the sense of belonging that permeated the event.

Throughout the day, renowned chefs added their touch to the festivities, leading engaging cooking sessions. Michelin-starred chef Akmal Anuar, brimming with enthusiasm for his new restaurant Harumannis which serves authentic Singaporean Malay cuisines, expressed his delight at the gathering. “With the right-minded people who enjoy good food, this is the ideal spot,” he said, pointing to vibrant stalls like Funkcoolio and Goldfish that contributed to the culinary landscape.

An unforgettable moment unfolded at the Dibba Oyster Bay oyster shucking challenge, where a Mexican family, long-time residents of Dubai, showcased the importance of togetherness. Carlos Diego, the father, reminisced about family cooking traditions. “We always cook together on Sundays back home. This festival brings us closer as a family,” he shared, a proud smile on his face as his children took part in the experience.

The Midtown Factory, a pioneering production facility located in Dubai Industrial City, today unveiled Majlis Premium Arabian Ale, the world's first fully halal-brewed beverage range, at the Taste of Dubai food festival. The Majlis stall was bustling with guests eager to taste this unique experience. Following the excitement generated at the Dibba Bay Oyster Festival, where celebrity chef Jenny Morris participated, Majlis Premium Arabian Ale was officially launched at the Black+Decker Cook School set up at the event. "We are thrilled to introduce a beverage that caters to the evolving preferences of the global Muslim community while also appealing to non-Muslims who are seeking a refined, alcohol-free alternative," said Igor Sergunin, the innovator of Majlis Premium Arabian Ale and CEO of Midtown Factory. "Dubai is the perfect launchpad for innovations as it is a hub of modern trade, a peaceful lifestyle, and a global center for halal products."

As evening descended, the amphitheatre transformed into a captivating realm of music and dance, illuminating the air with joy and celebration. A Canadian couple, Aaron Philip and Kris Rachel, captured the essence of the festival perfectly: “This is more than just a food festival; it’s a celebration of community and cultures coming together.”

As the first day of the Taste of Dubai drew to a close, visitors savoured their last delectable bites under the starlit sky, forging connections and reliving their encounters. With a promise of more flavours and festivities yet to unfold, smiles lit up the faces of attendees, leaving them eager for what tomorrow would bring.
