The first episode premiered on July 29, with the return of old favourites
Well it was a somewhat celebratory night for those who grew up with Smriti Irani’s Tulsi opening the doors and introducing the audience to her joint Shantiniketan family in the serial, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.
With nostalgia in full swing, the reboot arrived 17 years after the original finale. Familiar faces like Hiten Tejwani’s Karan, Gauri Pradhan’s Nandini, and the original Mihir Virani, played by Amar Upadhyay, are featuring in the show.
Early reactions are filled with joy and nostalgia as fans revisited a beloved era of television. Viewers watched Tulsi recall her late mother-in-law Savita, played by Apara Mehta, who had passed away in the original series. As expected, the trademark Ekta Kapoor twists and complications are already brewing—just the kind of drama fans have been waiting for.
Fans praise the chemistry between Mihir and Tulsi saying ‘it’s fresh as ever’, and the iconic sequence of Tulsi opening the doors, led to emotional reactions, with many reminiscing how they used to watch the show with their grandmother and parents. “The perfect return of a show that brought waves in the Indian television, more than decades ago. The balance between old and new cast and the negative shades of Gayatri chachis spiked the much-needed intrigue," one wrote.
