Beverly Hills: HBO would like a third season of True Detective, despite criticism over Season 2 starring Vince Vaughn, Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch.

Its programming head, Michael Lombardo, told TV critics gathered on Thursday that he’s a huge fan of the series.

“I think Nic [Pizzolatto] is one of the best writers working in television and motion pictures today. He takes a big swing and all I can tell you is, I think the show end is as satisfying as any show I’ve seen,” Lombardo said.

“We’re getting 12 million viewers an episode. I’m enormously proud of it. We want to do another season,” he said.

That despite detractors who say Season 2 is hard to follow and the characters lack the chemistry of the first season’s stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.

The Season 2 finale airs August 9.
