Thambi Ramaiah back to directing son

Indian National Award-winning Tamil actor Thambi Ramaiah’s new directorial venture Maniyaar Kudumbum features his son Umapathy Ramaiah in the lead. Malayalam actress Mridula Murali plays his on-screen lover. Besides writing, directing and playing a significant role in this film, Ramaiah marks his debut as a music composer.

Maniyaar Kudumbam, as the title indicates, is about the Maniyar family — and Ramaiah plays the patriarch’s role. Due to the reckless ways of the father, the family’s position suffers. The story is how his son — played by Ramaiah Junior — steps in to take charge of the situation. The film promises a laughter riot and a story on family bonding.

The supporting cast includes Samuthrakani, Radha Ravi and Jayaprakash. P.K. Varma is the DOP.
